Amplified Bricks at Tirkultura's "Unexpected Sources"

Bricks cast with embedded audio electronics allow the ubiquitous building module to function as a sound object for experimental live performances. Here the bricks are used to build spatio-temporal structures which expand upon the incidental sounds found in the performance of everyday life.

The performance featured a selection of bricks from a system being developed to construct full-scale sonically active architectural environments. Made from a range of materials—concrete, plaster, silicone, wax—each brick expresses its unique sonic signature when activated.
