Amplified Bricks

Amplified Bricks are building modules able to transmit the live loads which act upon them as audio signals.
These sonically sensitive architectural elements are demonstrated in a performance context to give listeners access to an alternative form of expression of the various materials. Specific ways of performing the individual bricks are related the materials themselves—while plaster's resonance calls for sustained gestures and results in bell-like tones, rockite's high density requires powerful strikes in order to be heard at all.
